GENERAL NOTES

The automatic gearbox option was phased in throughout the life cycle of the Series Discovery and was not necessarily available on all years of all models.
The LT77 gearbox was slightly uprated in 1991 and became the LT77S as a result.
The 300 Tdi was given a slight and torque boost in 1996 but only when used in conjunction with the automatic gearbox, in order to improve acceleration and in-gear performance.

STEERING
All models featured power-assisted steering of the worm and roller type,producted by Adwest. Lock-to-lock requires 3.375 turns

SUSPENSION
Coil springs are fitted at each corner, single rate at the front , dual rate at the rear, together with conventional hydraulic dampers. The front beam axle is located by radius arms ( running front to rear ) and a Panhard rod transversely. At the rear , the beam axle is located by trailing links and a central “A” frame.
